The current situation as of 1 March, which I update several times a day from information on government sites, is this: 34 deaths and 1577 confirmed cases, with 14 regions affected.

제가 여러차례 정부 홈페이지에 올라온 정보들을 업데이트한 3월 1일 현재 34명이 사망했고 1577명의 확진자가 발생했으며, 14개의 지역이 영향을 받았습니다.

Those in quarantine represent 0.089 percent of the total population of Italy.

격리된 사람들은 이탈리아 총 인구의 0.089% 인 것으로 나타났다.

The Ministry of Health website, in case you don’t speak Italian, says 83 people have recovered so far, including a Chinese couple, the first people in Italy to test positive for the disease. The two people concerned claim “Italian doctors saved us!” according to the media. (Italian medics are brilliant, as I can vouch from personal experience.)

이탈리아어를 못 하시는 분들의 경우, 보건복지부 홈페이지에서는 지금까지 첫 번째로 양상판정 받은 중국인 커플을 포함해 83명이 회복됐다고 합니다. 
이 두 사람은 미디어를 통해 "이탈리아 의사들이 우리를 살렸다"고 말했다.

The Government website also says the majority of positive cases do not need hospital care and are in self isolation at their homes.

정부 홈페이지에서는 또한 양성판정을 받은 대다수의 사람들은 병원 치료가 필요하지 않고 그들의 집에서 자가 격리를 하고 있다고 밝혔다.

In a press conference on Thursday (27 Feb)Foreign Minister Luigi di Maio gave us reassuring statistics:Italy covers 301,000 square kilometres. The affected parts of the Lombardy and Veneto region, where the first cases were declared on Sunday, represents just 0.05 percent of that total.

외무부 장관 루이지 디 마이오는 목요일(2월 17일)에 있었던 기자회견에서 안심되는 수치 : 이탈리아는 301,000 평방 킬로미터라고 밝혔다(?) 일요일에 첫 감염지역으로 선언된 롬바르디아와 베네토 지역 일부는 전체의 0.05%에 불과하다고 발표했다.

Tuscany has the largest Chinese population in Italy. Many families are already being monitored by the health service. Interestingly, none of these people has tested positive or even has symptoms.

토스카나는 이탈리아에서 가장 많은 중국인이 거주하는 지역이다. 많은 가족들이 이미 보건 서비스에 의해 감시되고 있다. 흥미롭게도, 양성 판정을 받거나 증상이 있는 사람은 없다.

Because a number of Chinese residents have been abroad after Chinese New Year. Tuscany’s president Enrico Rossi has engaged in a public war of words with virologist Professor Roberto Burioni.

많은 중국인 거주민들이 춘절 이후에 해외에 다녀왔기 때문이다. 토스카나 주지사 엔리코로시는 바이러스학 교수 Robrto Burioni와 설전을 벌였다.

Burioni recommends all incoming people from affected areas be put into immediate quarantine.

Rossi disagrees. His Facebook rebuttal states that the region is following national guidelines for containment of the Coronavirus and anyone who criticizes this position “is either misinformed or fascioleghista” — the latter meaning a fascist member of the country’s right-wing Lega party.

In this iconic city of Florence, businesses are reeling. There is a noticeable lack of visitors. Everyone, from the restaurants, designer shops and five-star hotels to tour guides, wedding planners and villas in the hinterland, has been affected.

상징적인 도시 피렌체에서는 사업이 차질을 빚고 있다. 여행객들은 눈에 띄게 부족하다. 식당부터 디자이너 가게들 그리고 5성급 호텔, 투어 가이드, 웨딩 플레너 와  내륙지방에 있는 빌라들까지 모두가 영향을 받았다.

People from overseas are cancelling trips. Cinzia Chiaramonte, vice president of Fiavet Toscana, the organisation of travel agents and tour operators, says: “The Far Eastern market is completely blocked.”

In a small but telling personal example, my husband is the chaplain of St. Mark’s Anglican church in Florence. This Ash Wednesday morning, for the first time in eight years, no-one came to mass.

작게나마 개인적인 예시를 말하자면, 내 남편은 피렌체에 있는 St. Mark's Anglican 교회의 성직자다. 이번 재의 수요일에 8년 동안 처음으로 아무도 오지 않았다.

The facts are this: Tuscany has got 13 confirmed cases of the virus, three here in Florence: a 63-year-old businessman, a Norwegian student studying in the city and a young Florentine woman just back from Milan. The first two are improving according to reports on 29 February.

팩트는 이겁니다 :  토스카나는 13명의 확진자가 발생했고, 피렌체에 있는 3명은 63세 사업가이며, 한 노르웨이 학생과 젊은 피렌체 여성은 밀라노에서 돌아왔다. 첫 2명은 2월 29일자 보고에 따라 회복중에 있다.  

The headline in the Florence edition of La Nazione newspaper says it all: “Coronavirus: I fiorentini hanno paura.” The Florentines are scared.

La Nazione 피렌체 지역신문의 헤드라인은 : "코로나바이러스: 폴로렌타인 사람들은 무서워한다"이다.
